SHIFTING DEVICE FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE HAVING VIRTUAL MANUAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18310160 titled 'SHIFTING DEVICE FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE HAVING VIRTUAL MANUAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a shifting device for an electric vehicle with a virtual manual transmission system.

  • The shifting device can create different shift patterns and torque characteristics.
  • It includes an indicator to show the current shift pattern and an indication switcher to change the pattern.
  • When the indication switcher is used, at least one of the shift positions or virtual gear stages will be different from the previous pattern.
  • The shifting device allows for a variety of shift patterns to be easily selected and adjusted.

Original Abstract Submitted

A shifting device for an electric vehicle having a virtual manual transmission system, that is configured to realize a variety of shift patterns and torque characteristics. The shifting device comprises: an indicator that indicates a shift pattern; and an indication switcher that switches the shift pattern indicated in the indicator to another pattern. At least any one of the number of the shift positions and a virtual gear stage assigned to the shift position in the shift pattern switched by the indication switcher is different from that in the previous shift pattern indicated in the indicator before switched by the indication switcher.
