Sending Verification Password Responsive to Mobile Device Proximity - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18231533 titled 'Sending Verification Password Responsive to Mobile Device Proximity

Simplified Explanation

- The patent application describes a method and device for verifying a transaction using a mobile device and a remote device. - The method involves detecting the proximity between the mobile device and the remote device associated with the transaction. - A verification password is sent to the remote device if the proximity is detected and the mobile device is in a specific mode. - The device includes a module for detecting proximity and a processor for sending the verification password. - The device also includes another module for detecting a stationary mode of the electronic device for a certain duration. - The verification password is sent only if both proximity and the specific mode are detected. - The purpose of this innovation is to enhance the security of transactions by verifying the proximity of the mobile device and the specific mode it is in.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method includes detecting proximity between a mobile device and a remote device associated with a transaction reserved by a user of the mobile device and a mode of the electronic device. A verification password is sent to the remote device responsive to detecting the proximity and the mode. A device includes a module to detect proximity between the device and a remote device associated with a transaction reserved by a user of the device occurring within a predefined distance threshold and a processor coupled to the module. A device includes another module to detect a stationary mode of the electronic device occurring for at least a predefined duration threshold. The processor is sends a verification password to the remote device responsive to detecting the proximity and the mode.
