SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY INCLUDING HEAT SINK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 18192785 Titled 'SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY INCLUDING HEAT SINK'

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a switching power supply apparatus that consists of various components. One important component is a semiconductor element that is mounted on a printed substrate. To dissipate the heat generated by the semiconductor element, a heat sink is used. The heat sink is connected to the printed substrate through soldering. The printed substrate also has a conductive pattern, and an inductor is connected between the heat sink and a part of the pattern. This inductor helps absorb any electrical noise that may be induced to the heat sink.

Original Abstract Submitted

A switching power supply apparatus includes a printed substrate, a transformer, a primary-side circuit, a secondary-side circuit, and some components. A semiconductor element is mounted on the printed substrate. A heat sink includes a connection portion and dissipates heat generated in the semiconductor element. The connection portion is connected to the printed substrate by soldering. A conductive pattern is formed on the printed substrate. An inductor is connected between the connection portion of the heat sink and a part of the pattern, and absorbs electrical noise induced to the heat sink.
