DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18062863 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a display device that aims to reduce power current and simplify the design of the flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) used in the device.
- The display device consists of multiple printed circuit boards (PCBs) and a display panel.
- The first source PCB is connected to a control PCB through a cable.
- The second source PCB is connected to the first source PCB through a flexible PCB.
- The display panel is connected to both the first and second source PCBs through a connection part.
- A timing controller is responsible for predicting power currents based on input image data.
- The timing controller determines a target gain based on the predicted power currents and the maximum allowable power current of the flexible PCB.
- The input image data corresponding to a gain reduction region of the display panel is corrected based on the target gain.
- The purpose of this innovation is to reduce the power current flowing through the flexible PCB.
- Additionally, the display device aims to have a flexible PCB with a small number of pins, simplifying its design.
Original Abstract Submitted
A display device includes a first source printed circuit board connected to a control printed circuit board through a cable, a second source printed circuit board connected to the first source printed circuit board through a flexible printed circuit board, a display panel connected to the first source printed circuit board and the second source printed circuit board through a connection part, and a timing controller determining predicted power currents based on input image data, determining a target gain based on the predicted power currents and a maximum allowable power current of the flexible printed circuit board, and correcting the input image data corresponding to a gain reduction region of the display panel based on the target gain. Accordingly, the display device may reduce a power current flowing through the flexible printed circuit board and may include a flexible printed circuit board including a small number of pins.
