PRACH PARTITIONING FOR FEATURE SIGNALING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18031654 titled 'PRACH PARTITIONING FOR FEATURE SIGNALING
Simplified Explanation
The patent application is about a method for signaling features in wireless communication devices using Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) partitioning.
- The method involves receiving information from a network node that indicates mappings between PRACH resources and sets of features.
- The wireless communication device selects a PRACH resource that is mapped to the desired set of features.
- The device then transmits a PRACH preamble using the selected PRACH resource.
- This method allows for efficient signaling of features while being compatible with existing and future radio resources.
Original Abstract Submitted
Systems and methods are disclosed that relate to Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) partitioning for feature signaling. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device comprises receiving, from a network node, information that indicates mappings between a plurality of PRACH resources and a plurality of sets of features. The method further comprises selecting a PRACH resource from among the plurality of PRACH resources, the selected PRACH resource being mapped to one of the plurality of sets of features that the wireless communication device desires to indicate to the network node. The method further comprises transmitting a PRACH preamble using the selected PRACH resource. In this manner, signaling of features can be done in a manner that is radio resource efficient, backwards compatible, and future compatible.
