BACKSIDE USER INTERFACE FOR HANDHELD DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240256058 titled 'BACKSIDE USER INTERFACE FOR HANDHELD DEVICE
The patent application describes a device with a display on one side and a touch-sensitive input device on the other side. The touch-sensitive input device includes a mapped touch area and an adjustment touch area.
Key Features and Innovation:
- The device allows for adjusting the position of the displayed content by receiving touch input data from the adjustment touch area.
- It translates touch input data from the mapped touch area into a derived display position based on the current mapping.
- The device performs actions associated with the derived display position.
Potential Applications:
- This technology can be used in smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices with touch-sensitive displays.
- It can enhance user interaction and navigation on touch-enabled devices.
Problems Solved:
- Provides a more intuitive way for users to interact with touch-sensitive displays.
- Allows for dynamic adjustment of displayed content based on user input.
Benefits:
- Improved user experience with touch-sensitive devices.
- Enhanced flexibility in displaying and interacting with content.
Commercial Applications:
- This technology can be applied to consumer electronics, digital signage, and interactive kiosks to improve user engagement and interaction.
Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research on touch-sensitive input devices and display technologies.
Frequently Updated Research: Research on touch-sensitive input devices, display technologies, and user interaction with electronic devices may be relevant to this technology.
Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the device determine the current position of the mapped area of the display based on touch input data? 2. What are the potential limitations of adjusting the position of the displayed content on the device?
Original Abstract Submitted
a device having a first side; a second side; a display configured to display any of a plurality of images on the first side; and a touch-sensitive input device disposed on the second side, wherein the touch-sensitive input device comprises a mapped touch area and an adjustment touch area. the device operation comprises obtaining an initial mapping that relates touch points of the mapped touch area to corresponding display points of a mapped area of the display, wherein the mapped area of the display is smaller than a total area of the display and has an initial position with respect to the display. first touch input data is received from the adjustment touch area, and a current position of the mapped area of the display is produced by adjusting the initial position of the mapped area of the display based on the first touch input data. a current mapping is produced by adjusting the initial mapping based on the current position of the mapped area. second touch input data is received from the mapped touch area. the second touch input data is translated into a derived display position according to the current mapping. an action that is associated with the derived display position is then performed.
