a secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator, and wound to have a hollow part at a center thereof; a can having a cylindrical shape, of which a first surface is closed, and a second surface is open to accommodate the electrode assembly, the can being electrically connected to the first electrode plate; a cap plate coupled to the second surface of the can; and a terminal passing through the first surface of the can and including an inner portion supported inside the can and an outer portion supported outside the can, the terminal being electrically connected to the second electrode plate, and the hollow part of the electrode assembly has a diameter less than that of the inner portion of the terminal.
