a washing machine is provided. the washing machine includes a drum, a detergent supply unit for supplying detergent to the drum, a turbidity sensor for detecting the turbidity of water inside the drum, memory storing one or more computer programs, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the drum, the detergent supply unit, the turbidity sensor, and the memory, wherein the one or more computer programs include computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the washing machine to control the detergent supply unit to supply the detergent to the drum in case that a washing cycle starts, detect the water turbidity by using the turbidity sensor in case that a predetermined time period elapses after the washing cycle starts, obtain result information by comparing the detected water turbidity with a critical value, and store the obtained result information in the memory.
