This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240307784 titled 'Multi-user Shared Mixed Reality Systems and Methods
The patent application describes multi-user shared mixed reality devices, methods, and systems that enable users to interact in a shared virtual space. Users can define the boundaries of their physical rooms, objects within the rooms, and inter-user windows for sharing mixed reality elements with others. The systems virtually stitch together different physical rooms associated with users, allowing them to share mixed reality experiences seamlessly.
- Plurality of head-mounted mixed reality systems interconnected through a network
- Users define room boundaries, object boundaries, and inter-user windows for sharing mixed reality elements
- Multi-user matchmaking virtually stitches together physical rooms of different users
- Central server may be included in the network
- Various combinations of devices, methods, and systems can be implemented
Potential Applications: - Collaborative virtual meetings and presentations - Multiplayer mixed reality gaming experiences - Virtual training and education programs - Remote assistance and support services - Social networking and virtual events
Problems Solved: - Facilitates seamless interaction and collaboration in shared virtual spaces - Enhances user engagement and immersion in mixed reality experiences - Simplifies the process of connecting multiple users in a virtual environment
Benefits: - Improved communication and collaboration among users - Enhanced user experience in mixed reality environments - Increased productivity and efficiency in virtual interactions - Expanded possibilities for social interactions and entertainment
Commercial Applications: Title: Multi-User Shared Mixed Reality Systems for Collaborative Virtual Experiences Description: This technology can revolutionize the way people interact and collaborate in virtual environments, opening up new opportunities for businesses in various industries such as gaming, education, training, and remote assistance.

Original Abstract Submitted
multi-user shared mixed reality devices, methods, and systems are disclosed. the disclosure includes a plurality of head-mounted mixed reality systems, interconnected through a network that may also include a central server. a first user defines the boundaries of a first room containing said first user, as well as the boundaries of one or more objects within said room. said first user also defines the location and/or boundaries of an inter-user window for sharing mixed reality elements with other users. additional users perform similar definitional steps. multi-user matchmaking is performed, comprises virtually stitching together a virtual version of a first physical room associated with said first user with a virtual version of a second physical room associated with a second user at a location where a first virtual inter-user window and a second virtual inter-user window coincide. various combinations of the disclosed devices, methods, and systems may be implemented.
