a method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for enhancement on cell discontinuous transmission (dtx) operation and discontinuous reception (drx) operation. in the context of a method, the method includes receiving, from a network node, paging information which contains cell discontinuous operation information, wherein the paging information indicates to the user equipment when to transmit a response message based on the cell discontinuous operation information. the method further includes transmitting, to the network node, the response message using a small data transmission (sdt) procedure based at least on the paging information.
