DEVICES, METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR MULTICAST TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240284486 titled 'DEVICES, METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR MULTICAST TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for multicast transmission in which a terminal device receives a mode indication from a network device, indicating a specific beam mapping mode to be used for transmission.

  • The mode indication activates a beam mapping mode associated with mapping between a transmission beam and a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasion for the terminal device.
  • The terminal device then performs PDCCH monitoring based on the indicated mode.

Key Features and Innovation

  • Multicast transmission method with specific beam mapping modes.
  • Mode indication for efficient PDCCH monitoring.
  • Optimization of transmission beams for improved data delivery.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various communication systems where multicast transmission is required, such as in broadcasting, group messaging, and content distribution networks.

Problems Solved

  • Efficient multicast transmission.
  • Improved PDCCH monitoring.
  • Enhanced data delivery in multicast scenarios.

Benefits

  • Enhanced network efficiency.
  • Improved data transmission reliability.
  • Better utilization of resources in multicast communication.

Commercial Applications

  • Telecom companies for efficient multicast services.
  • Broadcasting companies for group content delivery.
  • Content distribution networks for optimized data distribution.

Questions about Multicast Transmission

How does the mode indication improve PDCCH monitoring?

The mode indication helps the terminal device focus on specific beam mapping modes, optimizing PDCCH monitoring for efficient data reception.

What are the potential benefits of using specific beam mapping modes in multicast transmission?

Using specific beam mapping modes can enhance data delivery, improve network efficiency, and optimize resource utilization in multicast communication scenarios.

Original Abstract Submitted

embodiments of the present disclosure disclose devices, methods and apparatuses for multicast transmission. a terminal device may receive a mode indication of multicast transmission from a network device. the mode indication may indicate a beam mapping mode which is activated among multiple beam mapping modes, and the beam mapping mode may be associated with a mapping between a transmission beam and a physical downlink control channel (pdcch) monitoring occasion for the terminal device. the terminal device may further perform a pdcch monitoring based on the mode indication.
