SIDELINK TRANSMISSION ENHANCEMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240259823 titled 'SIDELINK TRANSMISSION ENHANCEMENT
The patent application relates to enhancing sidelink transmission by optimizing channel access procedures in a shared frequency band.
- The first device determines a Channel Occupancy Time (COT) to be shared with at least one second device for transmissions.
- It selects a time slot during the COT for transmission and extends the transmission to a guard period to improve flexibility.
- This approach allows for a smaller time gap between transmissions, enhancing the efficiency of channel access procedures for sidelink transmission.
Potential Applications: - This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems where devices need to efficiently share a frequency band for direct communication. - It can be utilized in IoT networks, vehicle-to-vehicle communication, and other scenarios requiring reliable and flexible transmission methods.
Problems Solved: - Addresses the challenge of optimizing channel access procedures in shared frequency bands for sidelink transmission. - Improves the efficiency and flexibility of transmission scheduling between devices.
Benefits: - Enhanced efficiency in channel access procedures for sidelink transmission. - Improved reliability and flexibility in direct communication between devices. - Optimal utilization of shared frequency bands for enhanced communication performance.
Commercial Applications: - This technology can be valuable in industries such as automotive, smart cities, and industrial IoT where direct device-to-device communication is essential for operations and safety.
Questions about Sidelink Transmission Enhancement: 1. How does this technology improve the efficiency of channel access procedures for sidelink transmission? 2. What are the potential applications of optimizing channel access procedures in shared frequency bands for direct communication?
Original Abstract Submitted
example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to sidelink (sl) transmission enhancement. a first device determines a channel occupancy time (cot) to be shared by the first device and at least one second device for transmissions on a shared radio frequency band; selects a first time slot during the cot for a transmission; and performs the transmission in the first time slot by extending the transmission to a first guard period of the first time slot or to a second guard period of a second time slot prior to the first time slot during the cot. by doing so, a channel access procedure requiring a smaller time gap between transmissions can be selected and performed, which can thus improve the flexibility of channel access procedures for sl transmission in the shared frequency band.
