embodiments of this application provide a power consumption reduction method and an electronic device. the method may be applied to the electronic device. the method includes: the electronic device detects a first quantity of junk data packets received within first duration. when determining that the first quantity meets a first relationship, the electronic device disconnects a network connection to a network device, and sends a first network connection request to the network device. the electronic device receives a first paging message sent by the network device in response to the first network connection request. the electronic device re-establishes a network connection to the network device based on the first paging message.
