a charging system for an electric vehicle charging a battery from an external power supply using a motor for driving of the electric vehicle, and an inverter, in which a control device charges the battery by controlling direct current of the external power supply to be applied to first to fourth winding portions at the time of dc charging, and charges the battery by controlling to electrically connect the external power supply to the third winding portion and/or the fourth winding portion and stop a rotor at a predetermined position at the time of ac charging.
