Abstract: an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment is configured for detecting a disconnection between a connector () for connection to a vascular access device () fixed to a patient (p) and the vascular access device () by: calculating a hydrostatic pressure difference (p) due to a difference in height between the vascular access device () and a pressure sensor (); calculating a section pressure drop (�p) due to a section of the blood circuit from the connector () to the pressure sensor (); calculating a disconnection pressure (p) from the hydrostatic pressure difference (p) and the section pressure drop (�p); receiving a measured pressure (p) from the pressure sensor (); detecting a disconnection of the connector () from the vascular access device () by comparing the measured pressure (p) with a pressure alarm threshold (p) function of the disconnection pressure (p).
