a screw compressor includes a casing containing a cylinder portion, an electric motor disposed in the casing, a drive shaft connected to the electric motor to rotate axially, a screw rotor disposed in the cylinder portion and connected to the drive shaft, and a gate rotor having a gate to mesh with a screw groove of the screw rotor. a compression chamber is formed by the screw rotor and the gate. a suction-side end portion of the screw rotor is formed in a cylindrical shape so that an outer peripheral surface of the suction-side end portion is along an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder portion. a seal portion to reduce a flow of fluid is provided on a first surface facing the outer peripheral surface of the suction-side end portion or a first end surface of the suction-side end portion in an axial direction.
