PRINTING SYSTEM, DEVICE, AND CONTROL METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240177203 titled 'PRINTING SYSTEM, DEVICE, AND CONTROL METHOD
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a printing system that can dynamically change the billing method for ink usage amounts for purposes other than printing. Here are some key points from the abstract:
- Server and device components are included in the printing system.
- Accepting unit for printing instructions.
- Printing unit that uses an inkjet printing method.
- Counting units to track ink amounts used for printing and non-printing purposes.
- Setting unit to determine billing method based on printed sheets or ink amount.
- Billing unit to process billing based on counting results.
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in office settings, print shops, and other environments where accurate tracking and billing of ink usage is important.
Problems Solved
This innovation solves the problem of accurately billing for ink usage, especially when it is used for purposes other than printing.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include more precise billing, cost savings, and improved efficiency in ink management.
Potential Commercial Applications
Commercial applications for this technology could include print service providers, office supply companies, and businesses that rely on accurate ink usage tracking for billing purposes.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be systems that track and bill for printing usage, but not specifically for ink usage for non-printing purposes.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology impact ink consumption in the long term?
This article does not address the long-term effects of the dynamic billing method on ink consumption. It would be interesting to know if users are more conscious of their ink usage when they are billed based on it.
Are there any security measures in place to prevent misuse of ink for non-printing purposes?
The article does not mention any security features to prevent misuse of ink for non-printing purposes. It would be important to consider how to prevent unauthorized ink usage in such a system.
Original Abstract Submitted
a printing system capable of dynamically changing a billing method for an ink usage amount for other than printing is provided. the printing system including a server and a device includes an accepting unit to accept printing instructions, a printing unit to perform printing by an inkjet printing method, a counting unit to count an ink amount used for printing for each user, a counting unit to count an ink amount used for other than printing, a counting unit to count the number of printed sheets for each user, a setting unit to set a billing method to one of a billing method based on the unit price for the number of printed sheets and a billing method based on the unit price for an ink amount, and a billing unit to perform a billing processing based on at least one of counting results obtained by the counting units.
