COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240160658 titled 'COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a communication device that retrieves information on image data files from an external device, displays this information on a screen for selection, and transfers the selected image data file to another external device. If there are main content files and corresponding proxy content files, the device prioritizes displaying information on the proxy content files over the main content files.

  • Communication device retrieves information on image data files from an external device
  • Displays information on the image data files on a screen for selection
  • Transfers the selected image data file to another external device
  • Prioritizes displaying information on proxy content files over main content files

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in digital cameras, smartphones, and other devices for efficient transfer and management of image files.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of quickly accessing and transferring specific image files from one device to another, especially when dealing with a large number of files.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include streamlined file management, faster transfer speeds, and improved user experience when handling image data files.

Potential Commercial Applications

  • Digital camera manufacturers could integrate this technology to enhance the user experience of transferring photos to other devices.
  • Smartphone companies could use this innovation to improve the efficiency of sharing images between devices.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be the use of file transfer protocols in digital devices to share images between devices. Additionally, software applications that allow for the management and transfer of image files may also be considered prior art.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact data security during file transfers?

This article does not address the specific security measures implemented to protect the image data files during transfer between devices. It would be important to understand how the device ensures the privacy and integrity of the transferred files.

What file formats are supported by this communication device for image data files?

The abstract does not mention the compatibility of different file formats for image data files. Knowing which formats are supported would be crucial for users looking to transfer specific types of image files.

Original Abstract Submitted

a communication device obtains, from a first external device in which a plurality of image data files are recorded, information on the image data files. the device provides a screen displaying the information on the image data files in a selectable manner and obtains, from the first external device, an image data file selected in the screen. the device then transfers the image data file obtained to a second external device. in case where the image data files include one or more main content files and one or more proxy content files each corresponding to one of the one or more main content files, the information on the one or more proxy content files is displayed in the screen with priority over the information on the one or more main content files.
