Fabric-Covered Electronic Device with Light-Emitting Components - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240250077 titled 'Fabric-Covered Electronic Device with Light-Emitting Components

The abstract describes a cylindrical electronic device, such as a voice-controlled speaker, with a housing, speaker, and display. The display includes light-emitting components, an opaque support structure, a diffuser, a display cover layer, and foam.

  • The electronic device has a cylindrical shape and includes a speaker and display in the housing.
  • The display consists of light-emitting components mounted on a substrate, with an opaque support structure, diffuser, display cover layer, and foam.
  • Light-emitting components are arranged in groups with varying orientations relative to the center of the display.
  • The foam and/or adhesive layer are made of discrete pieces with complementary protrusions for stability.

Potential Applications: - Home entertainment systems - Smart home devices - Audio-visual displays

Problems Solved: - Enhanced sound and display quality - Improved structural integrity and durability

Benefits: - Immersive audio-visual experience - Sleek and modern design - Durable and stable construction

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative Cylindrical Electronic Device for Enhanced Audio-Visual Experience" This technology can be used in smart home devices, entertainment systems, and audio-visual displays, catering to consumers looking for high-quality sound and display capabilities.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the cylindrical shape of the device enhance its functionality? The cylindrical shape allows for optimal sound projection and display visibility from various angles. 2. What advantages does the use of foam and adhesive layers provide in the display construction? Foam and adhesive layers enhance stability and durability, ensuring long-lasting performance of the device.

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic device such as a voice-controlled speaker device may have a cylindrical shape. the electronic device may include a housing, a speaker in the housing configured to emit sound, and a display in the housing. the display may include a substrate, light-emitting components mounted on the substrate, an opaque support structure mounted on the substrate, a diffuser that is mounted to the opaque support structure and that overlaps the light-emitting components, a display cover layer that overlaps the diffuser, and foam that is interposed between the opaque support structure and the display cover layer. the light-emitting components may be arranged in groups that have the same layout and orientations that vary as a function of angular position relative to the center of the display. the foam and/or an adhesive layer may be formed from two or more discrete pieces that have footprints with complementary protrusions.
