METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A SINTERED ARTICLE AND A SINTERED ARTICLE

Abstract: a method for additively manufacturing a sintered article from a powder composition having granules of cemented carbide or cermet includes the steps of additively manufacturing a bottom portion of the article by depositing a plurality of layers of powder composition, and adding binder to the entire surface of each layer of the bottom portion. the method further includes additively manufacturing a middle portion of the article by depositing a plurality of layers of powder composition, and adding binder to only the outer parts of each layer of the middle portion. the method further includes additively manufacturing a top portion of the article by depositing a plurality of layers of powder composition, and adding binder to the entire surface of each layer of the top portion, thereby producing a printed article, and sintering the printed article, wherein the porosity of the granules in the powder is 0-15 wt %.
