Abstract: an endoscope and a method of operating an endoscope are provided. the endoscope includes a set of one or more optical fibres connecting a proximal end of the endoscope to a distal end of the endoscope. the set of one or more optical fibres is arranged to receive, at the proximal end of the endoscope, light generated by a light source. the endoscope also includes a phosphor arranged at the distal end of the endoscope to receive light from the set of one or more optical fibres and emit light having a different spectrum to the light from the light source.
