Abstract: in one aspect, a tunable bi-functional self-dispersible fluid (tbsf) for well stimulation and hydrocarbon recovery is provided. the tbsf includes a fluid and crumpled graphene oxide balls. the fluid includes water, carbon dioxide, liquified natural gas, natural gas liquid, nitrogen, or a combination of two or more thereof. said crumpled graphene oxide balls are dispersed in the fluid and include a first and second fraction of crumpled graphene oxide balls. the first and second fractions of crumpled graphene oxide balls are hydrophilic and hydrophobic, respectively. said crumpled graphene oxide balls each include a shell-like structure and inner hollow core. said crumpled graphene oxide balls include iron-oxide coupled to the graphene oxide. the crumpled graphene oxide balls may include iron oxide and is magnetic. the first and second fractions of crumpled graphene oxide balls are present in said crumpled graphene oxide balls at 20-40 wt % and 60-80 wt %, respectively.
