FACILITATING SIGNALS FOR ELECTRICAL STIMULATION

Abstract: presented herein are techniques for delivering electrical (current) stimulation to a recipient. more specifically, in accordance with certain embodiments presented herein, at least one facilitating signal having a first spatial extent is delivered to the recipient in order to partially-depolarize nerve cells of the recipient. at least one stimulation signal having a second spatial extent is delivered to the recipient in order to activate at least a subset of the partially-depolarized nerve cells of the recipient. the second spatial extent of the at least one stimulation signal is different from the first spatial extent of the at least one facilitating signal.
