Abstract: an orthopedic implant includes a bridge having a central axis. in addition, the orthopedic implant includes a plurality of torsion regions coupled to the bridge. each torsion region has a longitudinal axis. further, the orthopedic implant includes a plurality of legs. each leg is coupled to and extends from one of the plurality of torsion regions. each leg is configured to rotate about the longitudinal axis of the corresponding torsion region between a first position and a second position that is angularly displaced relative to the first position about the longitudinal axis of the corresponding torsion region to induce an elastic torsional stress in the corresponding torsion region. each leg is biased from the second position toward the first position by the elastic torsional stress in the corresponding torsion region when the leg is in the second position.
