Abstract: a fiber-based moisture resistant packaging article and a method of manufacturing a packaging article. the packaging article being thermoformed from a multi-layer web. the multi-layer web having an upper film portion that is a multi-layer film; a lower film portion; and a compressed fiber core disposed between the upper film portion and the lower film portion. the total film content of the thermoformed food packaging article being less than 15 wt % as compared to the total weight of thermoformed food packaging article.
