Abstract: a system for dispensing medication to ensure the correct medication is dispensed to the correct patient at the correct time. the system includes a base configured to mechanically engage with a removable carousel comprising a plurality of compartments. the system also includes authentication features or devices that store information relating to the mode the device operates in and patient information. the authentication feature or device can be mechanical or electronic and ensure that medication is dispensed properly. the system can include multiple devices for dispensing medication that communicate with each other and a processor.
