Abstract: the technology is generally directed to reducing the impact of power fluctuations caused by workloads. the workloads may be executed by a machine, such as a server within a datacenter. the workloads may be memory and/or processing intensive workloads, such as artificial intelligence (ai) workloads. such ai workloads have become more frequent with the integration of ai into computer based applications. the power fluctuations may occur at a given frequency, such as every “n” seconds. the power fluctuations may be smoothed by increasing the rise and/or fall time of the fluctuation and/or by reducing the magnitude of the fluctuation. smoothing the fluctuations may be done by an energy supply injecting power into and/or absorbing power from the power system of the rack.
