Abstract: portable ultrasound systems and methods, the portable ultrasound system can include a case holding a handheld computer, a probe head coupled to the case, and a needle guide. the handheld computer can include a display. the case can include a posterior opening configured to align with a camera of the handheld computer and an anterior opening configured to align with a display of the handheld computer. the case can include a rechargeable battery integrated into the case opposite the anterior opening. the probe head can include an array of ultrasonic transducers. the needle guide can be coupled to a needle guide holder included with the probe head.
