Abstract: a positioning method, an apparatus, and a storage medium are provided, and are applied to the field of communication technologies. the method includes: a first network element receives a first request, where the first request is used to request to perform positioning based on at least one ranging terminal; the first network element determines a ranging initiator terminal, where the ranging initiator terminal is one of the at least one ranging terminal, and the ranging initiator terminal meets a first requirement; and the first network element indicates the ranging initiator terminal to initiate ranging.
