Abstract: the present application relates to a reduced complexity ue. in an example, the ue includes multiple receive ports to support downlink multiple input multiple output (mimo) operations. this set can be six or more to support six or more layers for the downlink mimo operations. a first set of the receive ports are logically grouped in a first group, and a second set of the receive ports are logically grouped in a second group. a channel state information (csi) sent by the ue to a base station can indicate the mapping of the layers (or the receive ports) to codewords that the base station is to send to the ue. additionally, or alternatively, an srs transmission by the ue is associated with a particular group of the receive ports.
