Abstract: a luminaire comprises an outer housing and a wireless communications module mounted in the outer housing. the outer housing comprises at least first and second portions, wherein the first portion comprises an electrically conductive mesh with a first opening size to provide transparency to rf signals within an operating range of wavelengths of the communications module, and a second portion comprising a solid electrically conductive layer or an electrically conductive mesh with a second opening size, smaller than the first opening size. this second portion is thus optimized for an em shielding function.
