ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING USING OVERLAY FIDUCIAL FEATURE TEMPLATE MATCHING

Abstract: a system and method for printing a 3d part is disclosed. the method includes forming a material toner image on a transfer medium including a registration pattern comprising at least three features (the features combined to form a fiducial); transporting the material toner image on the transfer medium to a sensor such that the features may be detected by the sensor; storing a position measurement for each feature detected by the sensor; calculating a score for subsets of features with reference to a template; adjusting the relative position of the transfer medium and a build surface based on at least the positions of the selected features; and transferring the toner image from the transfer medium to the build surface.
