Abstract: the present disclosure relates to a drive mechanism () for moving a stopper () of a medicament container (), wherein the stopper () is movably disposed inside a longitudinally extending barrel () of the medicament container () and is movable in a longitudinal direction (z) relative to the barrel (), the drive mechanism () comprising: —a receptacle () sized to receive the medicament container (), —a first electromagnet () comprising an electromagnetic coil () and a core () extending through the electromagnetic coil (), wherein a radial center () of the electromagnetic coil () is located outside the receptacle (), —a magnetic coupling member () mechanically engagable with the stopper () and configured for insertion into the barrel (), —wherein the first electromagnet () is operable to generate a magnetic field causing the magnetic coupling member () to move in the longitudinal direction (z).
