Abstract: a robust and low-cost surgical microscope is created by incorporating commercial binoculars intended for close focusing into a housing having a contained mirror system providing both a diversion of the optical path and a reduced distance between the microscope and surgical site thus adapting these binoculars for ergonomic surgical application.
