Abstract: a plug connector having a first housing half and a second housing half is provided, wherein one or more contact elements are provided in each of the two housing halves, wherein the two housing halves can be transferred from a separated state into a connected state in order to establish an electrical contact of the contact elements and can be locked to one another in the connected state via a locking device. in order to specify a lockable plug connector that, in the connected state, has a surface that is as smooth as possible and easy to clean, the locking device is arranged completely inside the housing halves in the connected state of the housing halves.
