Abstract: a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery includes a negative electrode active layer and a negative electrode current collector. the negative electrode active layer includes a center region, an edge region, and a sliding region on the current collector, and has the advantage of exhibiting a high-rate charge and discharge and a high energy density with a small volume change during charge and discharge by having an alignment degree (o.i.) of each carbon-based negative electrode active material contained in the center region, the edge region, and the sliding region satisfying formula 1 and formula 2. a method of manufacturing the same is also provided.
