ACID ETCHING PROCESS OF MAKING ANTI-GLARE TEXTURED GLASS CERAMICS FOR CONSUMER ELECTRONIC APPLICATION

Abstract: a method of making a glass-ceramic article having a textured region is provided. the method comprises: (1) acid rinsing a glass-ceramic substrate in a rinsing solution comprising hf, and optionally hcl, to form a rinsed region; (2) etching the rinsed region in an etching solution comprising hf and nhf, and optionally kcl, nacl, mgcl, propylene glycol and mixtures thereof; to form an etched region; and (3) chemically polishing the etched region in a polishing solution comprising hf, and optionally hcl, hnoand mixtures thereof, to form the textured region. related glass-ceramic articles are also provided.
