Abstract: an acquisition unit (for example, a transmission/reception unit and an image generation unit) acquires a first ultrasound image of a subject according to a first imaging condition. a recognition unit executes processing of recognizing a cross section on the first ultrasound image, and outputs a plurality of candidates for the cross section and a reliability degree of the recognition for each of the candidates. in a case where a state where the reliability degree of the plurality of candidates having higher reliability degrees satisfies a threshold value condition is continued for a predetermined time, the acquisition unit acquires a second ultrasound image of the subject according to a second imaging condition according to the recognized cross section, the second imaging condition being different from the first imaging condition.
