Abstract: the present disclosure relates to a user equipment that includes a communication interface configured to perform communication with one or more nearby ues using one or more of a plurality of resources in a cellular communication network, and processing circuitry configured to operate the ue in a first mode and in a second mode. the first mode is a scheduled resource allocation mode, and the second mode is an autonomous resource selection mode or an idle mode. the processing circuitry is configured to switch from the first mode to the second mode based on a first condition relating to an out of coverage event of the ue being met and a second condition related to a further parameter being met.
