METHODS FOR IMPROVING DIFFERENTIAL ENCODING BASED MEASUREMENT REPORTING

Abstract: differential measurement reporting is performed by a user equipment (ue) in a communication system. the user equipment (ue) includes a transceiver configured to receive quantities representing the quality of the transmission of the communication system to be reported and to measure the quantities to be reported. if more than two measured quality values are to be reported and are within a value set of a predefined codebook of differential values, fewer feedback bits, which are used for representing the measured quality values, are sent from the user equipment (ue), or an increase in resolution of the reported values occurs while maintaining the same number of feedback bits.
