Abstract: disclosed herein are embodiments of a method of operating a hearing aid with an active noise control system. the method can utilize an ambient sound detector for classification of an ambient sound environment, such as a coherence measure between audio signals. the method can further include mixing audio signals with a feed-forward compensating signal in dependence on the particular classification of the sound environment.
