From WikiPatents

METHOD FOR ULTRA-RAPIDLY CHARGING AN ELECTROCHEMICAL ACCUMULATOR CELL

Abstract: a method for charging an electrochemical accumulator cell, wherein the voltage across the terminals of the cell is kept constant at at least two successive predefined voltage levels, the charging current delivered to the cell decreasing gradually as the battery charges, the method including: e1) a first step, of applying a first voltage to the terminals of the cell, the first voltage being greater than a normal charging voltage, the normal charging voltage being defined as being a voltage such that it would not cause the cell to deteriorate electrochemically if it was applied over a complete charging cycle of the cell; e2) a second step, of applying the normal charging voltage.
