PREDICTIVE ENGINE STOP-START BASED ON CLUTCH ENERGY

Abstract: a computer system has processing circuitry to determine an energy level in a controllable clutch between a gearbox and a combustion engine of a vehicle powertrain. the energy level is indicative of the induced energy in the clutch during a time duration prior to determining the energy level. at least one of an engine start function and an engine off function are controlled depending on the determined energy level in relation to an energy threshold level.
