Abstract: an optical fiber preform includes: a clad rod having a hole extending along a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber preform and a clad glass body that constitutes at least a part of a clad in an optical fiber, where the hole is open at both ends of the clad rod; and a glass rod including a predetermined glass body that constitutes a predetermined portion different from the clad in the optical fiber, where the glass rod is disposed in the hole. the hole has a diameter that increases from a first side of the optical fiber preform in the longitudinal direction toward a second side of the optical fiber preform in the longitudinal direction.
