Abstract: a gantry crane and associated method of erection, the gantry including a frame having at least three first members; a longitudinal rail supported by the frame; and at least three second members extending between a first end portion and an opposite second end portion. each second member can be connected to the frame by means for rigid connection and continuous rotational movement of the second member relative to the frame between a first position in which the second member forms an angle of less than 90� with the first plane and a second position in which the second member is substantially perpendicular to the first plane.
