POLYMERS FOR THE REMOVAL OF PFAS FROM AQUEOUS COMPOSITIONS, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME

Abstract: crosslinked molecularly imprinted polymers (mips) and methods for the same are provided. the crosslinked mip may include a crosslinked polymer molecularly imprinted to have specific affinity for binding with a target substance. the target substance may include one or more perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances (pfas). the crosslinked polymer may be molecularly imprinted with the target substance, an analog of the target substance, or a combination thereof. methods for utilizing the crosslinked mip may include contacting the crosslinked mip with an aqueous composition including the target substance, and adsorbing at least a portion of the target substance of the aqueous composition with the crosslinked molecularly imprinted polymer.
