Abstract: adsorbents for microbial remediation of air within a built environment can be used remove volatile organic compounds (vocs) and improve indoor air quality. the adsorbents include gas-permeable polysaccharide hydrogels containing biochar and bacteria that degrade vocs to less toxic compounds.
