From WikiPatents

COMPRESSED IMPLANTS FOR SOFT TISSUE REPAIR

Abstract: an implant comprising one or more biopolymer sheets with compressed portions and uncompressed portions is disclosed. the compressed portions have a decreased thickness and increased density compared to uncompressed portions of the implant. this contributes to a modified flexibility for the compressed portions compared to the uncompressed portions. the compressed portions can include one or more portions or one or more edges of the implant, including substantially the entire periphery of the implant. the compressed edges help manage the “deflection” of the periphery that can occur in the high-pressure fluid environment used to establish the operating space at the site of repair of damaged tissue.
