Authenticated Modification of Blockchain-Based Data - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240039731 titled 'Authenticated Modification of Blockchain-Based Data
Simplified Explanation
The abstract of the patent application describes a system and method for a node of a blockchain to receive a request message for placing an entry on the blockchain. The message includes a request specification with an action and the identity of a party subject to the action, an indicator of authorization by a trusted entity, and multiple cryptographic verification codes generated by trust verifiers. The node applies the public encryption key of each trust verifier to decrypt the encoded action-payload in its cryptographic verification code and verifies that a threshold number of decrypted encoded action-payloads are identical. The node then submits the entity for processing to be added to the blockchain.
- The patent application describes a system and method for a blockchain node to receive and process a request message for adding an entry to the blockchain.
- The request message includes a request specification with an action and the identity of the party involved, an indicator of authorization by a trusted entity, and multiple cryptographic verification codes generated by trust verifiers.
- The node decrypts the encoded action-payload in each cryptographic verification code using the public encryption key of the corresponding trust verifier.
- The node verifies that a threshold number of decrypted encoded action-payloads are identical, ensuring the authenticity of the request.
- Once verified, the node submits the entity for processing to be added to the blockchain.
Potential Applications of this Technology:
- Secure and authorized entry placement on a blockchain.
- Trustworthy and tamper-proof record-keeping systems.
- Authentication and verification of actions performed on a blockchain.
Problems Solved by this Technology:
- Ensures that only authorized and trusted entities can add entries to the blockchain.
- Prevents unauthorized modifications or tampering of blockchain entries.
- Provides a reliable and verifiable system for recording and verifying actions on a blockchain.
Benefits of this Technology:
- Enhances the security and integrity of blockchain systems.
- Increases trust and reliability in blockchain-based transactions and records.
- Enables efficient and automated verification of actions performed on a blockchain.
Original Abstract Submitted
example systems and methods for a node of a blockchain are disclosed. the node may receive a request message for placing an entry on the blockchain, the message including; a request specification including an action and identity of a party subject to the action, an indicator that the entry was authorized by a trusted entity, and a plurality of cryptographic verification codes generated by a plurality of trust verifiers, each cryptographic verification code including an encoded action-payload from the trusted entity and cryptographically signed by one of the trust verifiers. the node may apply a public encryption key of each trust verifier to its cryptographic verification code to decrypt an encoded action-payload, and then verify that at least a threshold, number of the decrypted corresponding encoded action-payloads are identical. the node may then submit the entity for processing to be added to the blockchain responsive to at least the verification.
