There is disclosed a method of operating a user equipment in a radio access network, the method including communicating based on a control information message received while operating on a first bandwidth part; wherein the control information message represents a bit pattern; wherein the bit pattern is interpreted differently depending on whether the control information message indicates switch to operating on a second bandwidth part or not.
